Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-10-02

These terms govern use of this Specto instance ("the Service"), operated by the organization operating this Specto instance ("the Operator"). By creating an account or installing the SDK you agree to them on behalf of yourself and the organization you represent.

1. The Service

Specto provides session replay, product analytics and feedback collection. The Operator may improve or change the Service; material changes that reduce functionality you pay for are announced at least 30 days in advance.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account. Organization owners and admins control membership and roles. Accounts may be suspended for abuse, attempts to access other customers' data, or unlawful use.

3. Acceptable use and your obligations

Instrument only websites you own or are authorized to instrument. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to record your visitors and for the notices or consent your jurisdiction requires — the SDK's consent mode, opt-out and masking controls exist to help you meet them. Do not use the Service to capture payment card data, health records or other special-category data, and do not circumvent rate limits, quotas or security controls.

4. Plans, billing and quotas

Plans, prices and limits are listed on the pricing page. New organizations start on the Free plan. Organizations on the Free plan may apply for the Pro pilot: places are limited and granted at the Operator's discretion; an accepted organization uses the Pro plan free of charge for 90 days, is asked for feedback (a short call once a month), and then moves to the Free plan unless you subscribe. No payment details are needed. Paid plans renew monthly or yearly — whichever you chose — through Stripe until cancelled; you can upgrade, downgrade, switch between monthly and yearly billing or cancel at any time from Settings → Plan & billing. Plan and billing-interval changes are prorated. If you turn on overage, sessions beyond your plan’s monthly quota are billed in arrears with the next invoice at the price shown in Plan & billing, never exceeding the monthly cap you set. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. When a workspace exceeds its monthly session quota, new sessions are not recorded until the next period or an upgrade — existing data is never deleted for exceeding a quota.

5. Your data

Recordings, feedback and other content you collect belong to you. The Operator processes them only to provide the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Addendum. You can export your account data and delete projects or your account (which deletes organizations you own alone) at any time; recordings are deleted automatically at the end of your plan's retention window. After a downgrade or cancellation, existing recordings keep the previous plan's retention for 14 days before the new window applies.

6. Availability and support

The Operator aims for high availability but, unless an SLA is agreed in writing, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Support is provided by email at the Operator (contact details are available from your account administrator).

7. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and the Operator's total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. The Operator may terminate accounts that breach these terms. On termination your data is deleted as described in the Data Processing Addendum.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the Operator is established.
